The CS5532-BSZ is a Cirrus Logic 24-bit delta-sigma ADC with two differential input channels and a chopper-stabilized instrumentation amplifier with programmable gain in a 20-lead SSOP package. The chopper-stabilized architecture auto-zeros the input amplifier offset and drift, providing extremely low offset drift (15nV/C typical) for DC and low-frequency precision measurements. The PGA offers seven gain settings (1x to 64x), enabling direct connection of bridge sensors with full-scale outputs as low as +/-39mV (at 2.5V reference and PGA=64). The 24-bit resolution and 19 noise-free bits (at 7.5SPS) make the CS5532 ideal for precision weight scales and industrial measurement. Data rates from 7.5SPS to 3840SPS are programmable through the SPI interface, with higher rates trading resolution for speed. Self-calibration and system calibration routines correct for internal and external offset and gain errors, storing results in on-chip calibration registers. The device operates from +/-5V dual supplies for true bipolar input measurement. Packaged in 20-lead SSOP rated for -40C to +85C.

The CS5532 uses a fourth-order delta-sigma modulator with chopper-stabilized input stage. The chopper technique alternately swaps the input amplifier polarity at a high rate (typically the modulator clock), converting the amplifier DC offset to an AC signal that is removed by the digital filter. This reduces the effective offset and drift by the chopper gain factor. The PGA amplifies the differential input signal before the modulator, with gains implemented through capacitive switching in the input stage. The delta-sigma modulator produces a 1-bit oversampled data stream at the modulator clock rate. The digital decimation filter processes this stream to produce 24-bit output words at the selected data rate. Higher oversampling ratios (lower output rates) provide better noise performance: at 7.5SPS the output noise is 15nVrms, giving 19 noise-free bits. The SPI interface provides register-based configuration, calibration control, and data readout. Self-calibration measures and corrects internal offset and gain, while system calibration allows the user to apply known reference inputs.
