The CD4053BE from Texas Instruments is a triple 2-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer in a 16-pin DIP package. It contains three independent SPDT switches with low ON resistance of 80 ohm at 15V supply. The device can handle analog signals ranging from VDD to VEE, including bipolar signals when VEE is connected to a negative supply. Very low OFF leakage current of 10pA makes it suitable for precision signal routing in instrumentation and data acquisition systems.

The CD4053BE uses CMOS transmission gates to implement three independent SPDT switches. Each switch has two input/output channels and one common output/input. The binary address inputs (A, B, C) control which channel of each switch is connected to its common terminal. The INHIBIT pin disables all three switches when active high. The CMOS construction provides symmetrical ON resistance for both directions of signal flow. Break-before-make switching prevents momentary short circuits between channels during transition.
