The C8051F340-GQ from Silicon Labs is a fully integrated mixed-signal System-on-Chip microcontroller featuring an on-board USB 2.0 function controller with integrated transceiver and on-chip clock recovery. No external resistors, crystal, voltage regulator, EEPROM, or other components are required for USB operation. The high-speed pipelined 8051 core achieves up to 48 MIPS throughput with 64KB Flash and 4.25KB RAM. On-chip analog peripherals include a 10-bit 200ksps ADC with 20 external inputs, internal voltage reference, temperature sensor, and two comparators.

The C8051F340 uses a pipelined 8051 core that executes 70% of instructions in 1-2 system clock cycles, achieving up to 48 MIPS at 48MHz. The USB function controller integrates a transceiver, Serial Interface Engine (SIE), and 1KB FIFO buffer RAM, handling USB protocol independently. On-chip clock recovery extracts the USB clock from incoming data, eliminating the need for an external crystal. The Crossbar architecture allows flexible mapping of digital peripherals (UART, SPI, SMBus, PCA, timers) to any of the 40 I/O pins. The on-chip debug circuitry provides non-intrusive in-system debug with breakpoints and single-step capability via the C2 interface.
