The BQ24075RGTT from Texas Instruments is a standalone single-cell 1.5A linear battery charger with dynamic power path management (DPPM). It autonomously charges Li-Ion batteries from USB or adapter sources with input overvoltage protection up to 28V. The DPPM feature maintains system power priority over charging current, preventing system undervoltage during heavy load conditions. USB compliance with selectable 100mA/500mA input current ensures compatibility with USB hosts. NTC thermistor input enables JEITA temperature-qualified charging for battery safety.

The BQ24075RGTT uses a linear regulator architecture with an internal pass FET between the input and battery. The DPPM circuit monitors the system voltage at the OUT pin. When the system voltage drops below the DPPM threshold due to heavy load, the charger reduces the charge current to maintain system voltage. The VIN-DPM circuit limits input current when the adapter cannot supply the programmed current. The NTC input monitors battery temperature and adjusts the charge voltage and current according to JEITA guidelines. When the battery voltage reaches 4.2V and the charge current drops below the termination threshold, charging terminates. The SYSOFF pin disconnects the battery from the system for shipping or storage.
