The BP3122 is a high-precision primary-side regulation (PSR) constant-current LED driver from Bright Power Semiconductor with an integrated 650V power MOSFET. It operates in discontinuous conduction mode and is designed for flyback converters under universal input (85-265VAC). The primary-side feedback technology eliminates the need for secondary sensing and feedback circuits, as well as auxiliary windings for supply and sensing. This results in minimal external component count and small system size. The LED current accuracy is +/-5% with excellent line and load regulation.

The BP3122 uses primary-side regulation (PSR) to control LED current without secondary feedback. During the MOSFET off-time, the demagnetization of the transformer is sensed through the DRAIN pin. The output current is derived from the peak primary current and the transformer turns ratio. Cycle-by-cycle current limiting is implemented through a current sense (CS) resistor compared to an internal 500mV reference. The source driver architecture reduces operating current. Protection functions include LED open-circuit (over-voltage) latch, LED short-circuit (low frequency operation at 5kHz), CS resistor short-circuit latch, VCC undervoltage lockout, and over-temperature shutdown at 150 C.
