The AUIPS6041GTR from Infineon is an AEC-Q100 qualified intelligent power switch (IPS) designed for high-side load driving in automotive and industrial 24 V systems. The device integrates an N-channel vertical power MOSFET with charge pump, over-temperature shutdown with auto-restart, short-circuit current limitation to 7 A, reverse battery protection, and open-load detection. A diagnostic (DG) pin provides different voltage levels for fault identification including short circuit to battery, open load, and over-temperature conditions. The logic ground is isolated from the power ground, allowing operation with large ground offsets between the control and load sides. Note: this device is listed as obsolete; consider the BTT6200-4EMA or other PROFET+ alternatives for new designs.

The AUIPS6041GTR operates through four functional blocks: (1) Power MOSFET — an N-channel vertical power MOSFET with integrated charge pump drives the high-side load, with RDS(ON) of 110 mΩ typical ensuring low conduction losses; (2) Control Logic — the IN pin accepts a logic-level signal (compatible with 3.3 V/5 V MCUs) to turn the MOSFET on/off, while the charge pump provides gate drive above VCC; (3) Protection — over-temperature sensor shuts down the MOSFET when Tj exceeds threshold and auto-restarts after 7°C hysteresis, while current limitation activates at 7 A during short-circuit events; (4) Diagnostic — the DG pin outputs different voltage levels indicating fault conditions: normal operation, open load (ON or OFF state), short circuit to battery, and over-temperature shutdown, enabling the MCU to identify and respond to specific faults.
