The TS881ILT from STMicroelectronics is a single nanopower comparator designed for ultra-low power applications where extended battery life is critical. Operating from just 0.85V to 5.5V with a typical supply current of only 210nA, it enables always-on monitoring circuits in battery-powered and energy-harvesting systems. The device features rail-to-rail input and output capability, built-in hysteresis for clean switching on slow-moving signals, and a propagation delay of 2μs with 100mV overdrive. Available in SOT-23-5 and SC70-5 packages, it is specified over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range with 8kV HBM ESD tolerance.

The TS881ILT operates as a single-ended voltage comparator with three functional blocks. (1) The rail-to-rail input stage uses complementary P-channel and N-channel differential pairs to maintain valid common-mode operation across the entire supply voltage range from ground to VCC. Internal hysteresis of approximately 2.4mV creates two threshold levels that prevent output oscillation on slowly varying or noisy input signals. (2) The high-gain amplification stage provides sufficient voltage gain to convert small input differentials into full logic-level output swings while consuming minimal current. The ultra-low 210nA supply current is achieved through careful bias optimization. (3) The push-pull output stage drives rail-to-rail output voltages without requiring an external pull-up resistor, sourcing and sinking current directly into the load.
