The SMLVT3V3 from STMicroelectronics is a unidirectional Transil TVS diode designed to protect sensitive automotive and industrial circuits against ESD and electrical surges. Rated for a standoff voltage of 3.3V, it provides low clamping voltage protection (6V max at 7A peak current) for 3.3V logic circuits and communication lines. The device handles up to 400W peak pulse power in the 10/1000μs waveform, exceeding IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection requirements. The low-profile SML (DO-219AB) package enables high-density PCB designs while maintaining excellent thermal performance.

The SMLVT3V3 operates as an avalanche breakdown protection device. (1) Under normal operating conditions (voltage below 3.3V VRWM), the TVS diode presents a very high impedance with leakage current below 1μA, having negligible effect on the protected circuit. (2) When a transient voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage (3.7V minimum), the device rapidly enters avalanche breakdown, providing a low-impedance path that diverts surge current away from the protected circuit. (3) The clamping action limits the voltage across the protected line to the clamping voltage (6V max at 7A), absorbing the transient energy within the device. After the transient subsides, the TVS diode returns to its high-impedance state, allowing normal circuit operation to resume.

  • In case of loss or severe damage during transit, please contact us within 48 hours after receiving the tracking information. We will assist you in filing a claim with the logistics provider.
