The TPS562201DDCR from Texas Instruments is a 2A synchronous step-down converter with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 17V. Using TI’s D-CAP2 control mode, it provides excellent transient response without external compensation components. The integrated 80/50 mΩ MOSFETs achieve up to 93% efficiency, while auto-skip mode maintains high efficiency at light loads. Only four external components are required for a complete design.

The TPS562201 uses TI’s proprietary D-CAP2 control mode, a constant on-time architecture with emulated current feedback. This eliminates the need for external compensation while providing excellent transient response. The internal error amplifier compares the FB pin voltage with the 0.6V reference and adjusts the on-time to maintain regulation. At light loads, the converter enters auto-skip mode, reducing switching frequency to minimize losses. Overcurrent protection is implemented via cycle-by-cycle valley current limiting, while overvoltage protection and thermal shutdown provide additional fault protection.
