The TLV70233DBVR from Texas Instruments is a 300mA low-IQ low-dropout linear regulator with 3.3V fixed output in SOT-23-5 package. The device features 35uA typical quiescent current, 220mV dropout voltage at 300mA, and 68dB PSRR at 1kHz, making it ideal for noise-sensitive RF applications. The 2V to 5.5V input range supports Li-ion battery and 3.3V/5V rail operation. Stability with only 0.1uF effective output capacitance enables use of small, cost-effective capacitors. The TLV70233DBVR operates as a low-IQ LDO linear regulator. (1) The P-channel MOSFET pass element provides low dropout voltage (220mV at 300mA) by operating in the linear region with minimal gate-to-source voltage overhead. The precision bandgap reference and error amplifier maintain +/-2% output voltage accuracy over temperature and load. (2) The 35uA quiescent current is achieved through a low-power bias network that keeps the error amplifier and reference active while consuming minimal current. This is critical for always-on battery-powered applications where the LDO remains enabled but delivers little or no load current. In shutdown mode (EN low), the quiescent current drops to 1uA. (3) The 68dB PSRR at 1kHz is achieved through the high-gain error amplifier and P-channel MOSFET architecture. The error amplifier actively rejects input supply ripple by adjusting the pass element gate voltage to maintain a constant output. The PSRR decreases at higher frequencies due to the decreasing error amplifier loop gain. The 0.1uF minimum output capacitance requirement is enabled by a carefully designed compensation network that maintains stability with very small capacitors.
