The TLV70033DDCR is a 200 mA low-dropout linear regulator from Texas Instruments designed for power-sensitive portable applications. The device features ultra-low 31 uA quiescent current, excellent line and load transient performance, and very high 68 dB PSRR at 1 kHz. A precision bandgap and error amplifier provides overall +/-2% accuracy. Low output noise and very high PSRR with minimal input-output headroom make this device ideal for RF-powered portable equipment and as a second-stage regulator following a switching converter. The device is stable with an effective output capacitance of only 0.1 uF, enabling the use of cost-effective capacitors with higher bias voltage derating. All versions include thermal shutdown and current limit for safety.

The TLV70033DDCR uses a PMOS pass transistor to achieve low dropout voltage. When the input-output differential is less than the dropout voltage, the PMOS device operates in the linear region and behaves as a resistor (RDS(on)). The error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage (via an internal resistor divider) with an internal bandgap reference and drives the PMOS gate to regulate the output. The enable (EN) pin is active-high and TTL-CMOS compatible; when disabled, the output is turned off. Internal current limit protects the device during fault conditions, and a thermal shutdown circuit disables the output when junction temperature exceeds approximately 160°C. The device also includes undervoltage lockout (UVLO) to keep the output off until internal circuitry is operating properly.
