The TLC2272CDR is a dual rail-to-rail operational amplifier from Texas Instruments’ Advanced LinCMOS family, designed for applications requiring low noise, high input impedance, and wide output swing. The device features a noise voltage of 9 nV/sqrt(Hz) at 1 kHz, which is two times lower than competing CMOS op-amps, making it excellent for small-signal conditioning of high-impedance sources. The TLC2272CDR operates as a voltage-feedback operational amplifier using CMOS technology with three key circuit blocks: (1) The differential input stage uses PMOS transistors to achieve ultra-low input bias current (1 pA typical) and high input impedance. The input common-mode range extends to the negative supply rail, enabling single-supply operation with ground-referenced signals. (2) The gain stage provides the primary voltage amplification with a gain-bandwidth product of 2.2 MHz. Internal compensation ensures stability in unity-gain configurations without external components. The Advanced LinCMOS process provides low 1/f noise corner frequency and low input offset voltage. (3) The output stage uses a complementary CMOS push-pull configuration that swings to within millivolts of both supply rails, maximizing output dynamic range. The output can drive loads as low as 10 kohm to the rails, and the low quiescent current per amplifier (1.1 mA typical) makes it suitable for battery-powered applications.
