The Texas Instruments TL331BQDBVRQ1 is an automotive-qualified single voltage comparator and the next-generation improvement of the industry-standard TL331-Q1. It features significantly lower input offset voltage (0.37 mV typical vs. 1.4 mV in legacy versions), lower input bias current (3.5 nA vs. 25 nA), lower supply current (0.43 mA vs. 0.7 mA), and faster propagation delay (1 µs vs. 1.3 µs). The device operates from a wide 2 V to 36 V single supply, with input common-mode range that includes ground, making it ideal for low-side current sensing and ground-referenced voltage monitoring. The open-collector output can be connected to other open-collector outputs for wired-AND logic functions. AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification ensures reliable operation in automotive environments from -40 °C to +125 °C. The device is a drop-in replacement for the TL331-Q1, enabling easy upgrades in existing designs.

The TL331BQDBVRQ1 is a single differential voltage comparator that outputs a logic low when the voltage at the inverting input (-) exceeds the voltage at the non-inverting input (+), and releases (high-impedance) when the non-inverting input is higher. The open-collector output requires an external pull-up resistor to establish the logic high level, and can be connected to other open-collector outputs for wired-AND configurations. The input stage uses a differential pair with PNP input transistors, allowing the common-mode input range to extend down to ground (0 V), which is critical for low-side current sensing applications. The 3.5 nA typical input bias current minimizes error in high-impedance sensing circuits. The 0.37 mV typical offset voltage ensures accurate threshold detection. The device operates from a single supply as low as 2 V, with supply current essentially independent of supply voltage (0.43 mA typical from 5 V to 36 V), making it suitable for battery-powered systems.
