The SN65HVD232DR from TI is a 3.3V CAN transceiver compliant with ISO 11898-2 for data rates up to 1Mbps. Unlike the HVD230/231, the HVD232 has no Rs mode control pin – it always operates in normal mode with adjusted driver transition times for reduced EMI. Features +/-16kV HBM ESD, thermal shutdown, open-circuit fail-safe, and hot-plug glitch-free operation. Supports 120 nodes.

The driver converts single-ended TXD to differential CANH/CANL signals. In dominant state, CANH ~3.5V, CANL ~1.5V (2V differential). In recessive state, both ~VCC/2. The SN65HVD232 operates with internally adjusted slew rates for optimal EMI performance without an external Rs pin. The receiver features open-circuit fail-safe biasing that guarantees a recessive output when bus lines are floating. Thermal shutdown protects against overtemperature conditions.
