The REF198ESZ is a precision micropower voltage reference from Analog Devices providing a fixed 4.096V output with +/-0.05% initial accuracy and 5ppm/C maximum temperature coefficient. Using a patented curvature-corrected bandgap architecture with laser-trimmed thin-film resistors, the device achieves excellent stability over temperature. The low 45uA operating current and SLEEP mode (15uA) make it ideal for battery-powered systems. With 30mA output current capability and low dropout, it can drive demanding ADC/DAC reference loads.

The REF198 uses a curvature-corrected bandgap reference architecture that compensates for the nonlinear temperature characteristics of the basic bandgap cell. Laser-trimmed thin-film resistors ensure precise output voltage calibration and temperature coefficient. A low-dropout output stage allows operation with the input voltage only 100mV above the output. The SLEEP pin, when driven low with a TTL or CMOS signal, disables the output and reduces supply current to 15uA. The output stage includes short-circuit current limiting and thermal shutdown protection.
