The NCP302045MNTWG from onsemi is a 45V, 5A programmable overcurrent protection switch designed for automotive and industrial applications. It combines a low 50mΩ on-resistance MOSFET with comprehensive protection features including programmable current limiting, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, and -60V reverse polarity protection. The DFN-8 (3x3mm) package provides excellent thermal performance in a compact footprint, making it ideal for space-constrained ECU and sensor module protection.

The NCP302045MNTWG integrates an N-channel power MOSFET with a sophisticated control and protection circuit. During normal operation, the MOSFET is fully enhanced, providing a low 50mΩ conduction path. The current sense amplifier monitors the load current through the MOSFET’s RDS(on), and when it exceeds the programmed threshold (set by an external resistor), the device enters current-limit mode by reducing the gate drive. The overvoltage comparator disables the MOSFET when VIN exceeds the programmed threshold. A reverse voltage detector protects against negative input voltages down to -60V by keeping the MOSFET off. Thermal shutdown activates at approximately 165°C with automatic retry after cooling.
