The Samsung MZ-V9P1T0BW (990 PRO) is a 1TB NVMe M.2 solid-state drive leveraging PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and Samsung’s latest V-NAND TLC flash with an in-house controller. Delivering up to 7,450 MB/s sequential read and 6,900 MB/s sequential write with Intelligent TurboWrite, it approaches the PCIe 4.0 theoretical maximum. The drive features 1 GB LPDDR4 DRAM cache, AES 256-bit encryption with TCG/Opal 2.0, and 600 TBW endurance with a 5-year warranty.

The 990 PRO operates through three primary subsystems: (1) Samsung In-House Controller — manages NAND flash operations, wear leveling, garbage collection, and Intelligent TurboWrite which uses an SLC cache to accelerate write performance; (2) V-NAND TLC Flash Array — 3D vertical NAND stores 3 bits per cell with charge trap technology for higher density and endurance; (3) DRAM Cache — 1 GB LPDDR4 stores the flash translation layer (FTL) mapping table for fast address translation.
