MIC5319-3.3YD5-TR

The MIC5319-3.3YD5-TR from Microchip is a 500mA LDO regulator providing fixed 3.3V output in a tiny SOT-23-5 package. With 150mV dropout at full load, it can regulate 3.3V from a 3.5V input. The very low 24uA ground current maximizes battery life. Excellent PSRR of 70dB at 1kHz and low 30uVrms output noise make it ideal for powering noise-sensitive RF transceivers and precision analog circuits. The enable pin supports power sequencing and shutdown. The device includes current limit and thermal shutdown protection.

The MIC5319-3.3YD5-TR uses a P-channel MOSFET pass element with an error amplifier comparing a divided output voltage to an internal bandgap reference trimmed to 3.3V. When the input-output differential drops below dropout, the P-channel MOSFET enters the triode region and VOUT tracks VIN minus the dropout voltage. The low 24uA ground current results from the CMOS error amplifier design, which draws minimal bias current. The high PSRR is achieved by the error amplifier’s loop gain, which attenuates input ripple. The enable pin controls the pass element gate; when disabled, output is high-impedance and ground current drops to <0.1uA.
