The MC14051BDR2G from onsemi is an 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer in SOIC-16 package. The device features 250 Ohm typical on-resistance at 15V supply, 0.1nA typical off-leakage current, and wide analog signal range up to +/-15V with dual supply. The 3-bit address input (A, B, C) selects one of eight channels to connect to the common I/O pin, while the inhibit input (INH) disables all channels. The device can be used as a 1-to-8 demultiplexer or 8-to-1 multiplexer, and two devices can be combined for differential 4-channel multiplexing. The DR2G suffix denotes SOIC-16 package with Pb-free finish and tape and reel.

The MC14051BDR2G operates as an 8-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer. (1) The device consists of eight bidirectional analog switches, each connecting one channel I/O pin (Y0-Y7) to the common I/O pin (Z). The 3-bit address input (A, B, C) selects which switch is closed, connecting the selected channel to the common pin. The inhibit input (INH) overrides the address and opens all switches when high. (2) The analog switches are implemented with complementary MOS transistors that provide bidirectional signal transmission. The on-resistance of 250 Ohms at 15V supply is determined by the MOS transistor channel resistance. The on-resistance varies slightly with analog signal voltage (10 Ohm typical variation), which can introduce small signal distortion in precision applications. (3) The 0.1nA off-leakage current ensures minimal signal coupling between unselected channels. The 200ns switching time limits the maximum channel switching rate. The device can handle analog signals from VEE to VDD, supporting both single-supply (5-15V) and dual-supply (+/-5V to +/-7.5V) operation for bipolar analog signal routing.
