The LT8610AIMSE-5#PBF is a 42 V, 3.5 A synchronous step-down switching regulator from Analog Devices featuring a fixed 5 V output and an I-grade operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Part of the LT8610A family, it offers higher output current (3.5 A vs 2.5 A for the base LT8610) and a faster 30 ns minimum switch-on time. The integrated top and bottom power switches enable synchronous operation, achieving up to 95% efficiency at 1 A from 12 V input. The ultralow 2.5 µA quiescent current in Burst Mode makes it ideal for always-on battery-powered applications. The switching frequency is adjustable from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz via an external resistor and can be synchronized to an external clock. Internal compensation with peak current mode control provides stable operation with small inductors and fast transient response.

The LT8610AIMSE-5 operates as a constant-frequency, peak current mode synchronous buck regulator. At each clock cycle the top NMOS switch turns on and inductor current ramps up until the peak current comparator trips. The top switch then turns off and the synchronous bottom NMOS switch turns on, allowing inductor current to decay. An error amplifier compares the VFB pin voltage against the internal reference to set the peak current threshold. For light-load efficiency, Burst Mode operation (SYNC pin low) shuts down all switching circuitry between bursts, reducing input supply current to just 2.5 µA while keeping output ripple below 10 mVp-p. In pulse-skip mode (SYNC high or external clock), the oscillator runs continuously and skips pulses at light loads. The EN/UV pin features a precise 1 V threshold for programmable input undervoltage lockout, and the PG flag indicates when VOUT is within +/-9% of the target. Frequency foldback protects against overload by reducing the switching frequency when the feedback voltage is low.
