The LT3759EMSE#TRPBF is a versatile wide input voltage range DC/DC controller from Analog Devices capable of regulating either positive or negative output voltages using a novel single feedback pin (FBX) architecture. With an input range of 1.6V to 42V, this device can be configured as a boost, SEPIC, or inverting converter, making it one of the most flexible power controller solutions available. The internal LDO regulator provides gate drive supply from either VIN or DRIVE pins, and the programmable switching frequency from 100kHz to 1MHz allows optimization for efficiency or size.

The LT3759 uses a fixed-frequency current-mode control architecture for stable operation across wide input and output voltage ranges. The unique FBX pin contains two internal error amplifiers: one for sensing positive outputs and another for negative outputs, automatically selecting the appropriate amplifier based on the feedback voltage. An external N-channel MOSFET is driven by the GATE output, and current is sensed via an external sense resistor with an accurate 50mV threshold. During output short-circuit conditions, frequency foldback reduces switching frequency to limit inductor current. The internal LDO can be powered from either VIN or DRIVE for maximum flexibility.
