The LM5017SDX/NOPB is a Texas Instruments 100V, 600mA synchronous step-down regulator in a WSON-8 (4x4mm) package with exposed thermal pad. The device integrates both the 100V N-channel high-side buck switch and the low-side synchronous rectifier MOSFET, eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode. The constant on-time (COT) control scheme requires no loop compensation components, provides excellent transient response, and enables very high step-down ratios. The on-time varies inversely with input voltage, resulting in nearly constant switching frequency across the input range. A high-voltage startup regulator provides bias power for internal operation and gate drivers. The intelligent peak current limit protects against overload conditions, with the off-time automatically adjusted based on the FB voltage and input voltage. The adjustable UVLO allows the input undervoltage threshold and hysteresis to be independently programmed. The device also supports Fly-Buck (isolated buck) topologies for generating isolated auxiliary outputs.

The LM5017 uses a constant on-time (COT) control scheme. The on-time is set by an external RON resistor and is inversely proportional to VIN, yielding nearly constant switching frequency. When the FB pin voltage falls below the 1.225V internal reference, the high-side MOSFET turns on for the programmed on-time, ramping up the inductor current. After the on-time, the high-side MOSFET turns off and the low-side synchronous rectifier turns on, ramping down the inductor current. The low-side MOSFET remains on until the FB voltage again falls below 1.225V (in continuous conduction) or the inductor current reaches zero (in discontinuous conduction). The intelligent current limit terminates the on-time if the peak inductor current exceeds 1.02A, and the off-time is extended based on the FB voltage to limit average output current safely during overload and short-circuit conditions.
