The LM27313XQMFX/NOPB is a high-frequency switching boost regulator from Texas Instruments in a compact 5-pin SOT-23 package. It operates at 1.6MHz switching frequency, which allows the use of tiny surface-mount inductors and capacitors, minimizing solution footprint. The device integrates an 800mA NPN power switch and uses current-mode PWM control architecture with internal loop compensation. An internal soft-start circuit limits inrush current during startup. The wide 2.7V to 14V input range and adjustable output up to 24V accommodate a broad range of boost applications. The /NOPB suffix indicates lead-free construction. The 0.04uA shutdown current makes it ideal for battery-powered systems.

The LM27313 employs a current-mode PWM boost topology. The internal oscillator generates a 1.6MHz clock that sets the switch frequency. During each switching cycle, the internal NPN power switch connects the inductor between VIN and ground, storing energy in the inductor magnetic field. When the switch turns off, the inductor voltage adds to VIN through flyback action, and current flows through the external Schottky diode to the output capacitor and load. The current-mode control loop uses the error amplifier output to set the peak switch current threshold on a cycle-by-cycle basis, providing inherent input voltage feedforward and fast transient response. The feedback voltage (FB pin) is compared to a 1.23V internal reference, and the error amplifier adjusts the duty cycle to regulate the output voltage.
