The LF444CMX/NOPB from Texas Instruments is a quad low-power JFET-input operational amplifier in a SOIC-14 package. The JFET input stage provides 100pA typical input bias current, making the device ideal for interfacing with high-impedance sensors such as photodiodes, pH electrodes, and piezoelectric transducers. The 1MHz gain-bandwidth product and 1V/us slew rate support general-purpose signal conditioning. Supply current is only 0.4mA per amplifier, approximately one-tenth of the popular TL074, making the LF444 suitable for battery-operated instruments. The device operates from +/-5V to +/-18V dual supplies and is pin-compatible with the TL074 and LM348, allowing direct substitution in low-power applications. Offset voltage is typically 3mV with 10uV/C drift.

The LF444CMX/NOPB uses a JFET input stage with bipolar output for low-power precision amplification. (1) JFET Input: A matched JFET differential pair provides the 100pA input bias current and high input impedance (10^12 Ohms typical). The JFETs operate in the constant-current region, providing low noise (15nV/sqrtHz) and low input bias current independent of common-mode voltage. (2) Gain Stage: A common-emitter gain stage provides approximately 100dB open-loop gain. Internal compensation (30pF capacitor) ensures stability at unity gain with capacitive loads up to approximately 100pF. (3) Output Stage: A class-AB bipolar output stage swings to within approximately 1.5V of the supply rails and can source/sink approximately 10mA. (4) Low Power: The bias network is designed for 0.4mA per-amplifier supply current, compared to 1.4mA for the TL074. The reduced bias current trades bandwidth for power savings, making the device ideal for battery-powered applications.
