L7815CV-DG

The L7815CV-DG from STMicroelectronics is a positive fixed-voltage regulator in the TO-220 package providing a regulated 15V output at currents up to 1.5A. The L7815CV-DG operates as a series-pass linear regulator. The input voltage is applied through a series pass transistor controlled by a feedback loop. An internal voltage reference and error amplifier compare a fraction of the output voltage with the reference, adjusting the pass transistor to maintain a constant 15V output. The internal current limiting circuit restricts output current during overload conditions. The thermal shutdown circuit disables the output when the junction temperature exceeds approximately 150C, preventing device damage. Safe area protection limits the pass transistor power dissipation.
