The ISO7720DR is a dual-channel digital isolator from Texas Instruments providing 5000VRMS isolation voltage with data rates up to 100Mbps. It features SOIC-8 package, supports 2.375V to 5.5V wide voltage supply, suitable for industrial communication and motor control in high-noise environments.

The ISO7720DR is a dual-channel digital isolator from Texas Instruments in an 8-pin SOIC narrow-body (4.90 x 3.91 mm) package, providing 3000 Vrms isolation per UL 1577 with reinforced insulation per VDE. It features two unidirectional channels in the same direction (2/0), 100 Mbps data rate, 11 ns typical propagation delay, and greater than 100 kV per microsecond common-mode transient immunity (CMTI). Operating from 2.25 V to 5.5 V on both sides with 1.7 mA per channel supply current at 1 Mbps, it supports voltage translation across the isolation barrier. The device defaults to high output on input loss and is rated for -55 C to +125 C operation.

The ISO7720DR uses capacitive isolation technology with double silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation barriers between the input and output sides. Each isolation channel consists of a modulator on the input side and a demodulator on the output side. The input logic signal modulates a high-frequency carrier that is capacitively coupled across the SiO2 insulation barrier. The demodulator on the output side recovers the original logic level. The double-barrier architecture provides reinforced insulation with 3000 Vrms withstand rating per UL 1577 and 8000 Vpeak transient isolation per IEC 60747-5-5. A refresh circuit continuously transmits the input state across the barrier even when the input is static, ensuring correct output state under all conditions. If the input power or signal is lost, the output defaults to a high logic level (for non-F suffix devices). The capacitive coupling approach eliminates the LED aging mechanism of optocouplers, providing a projected insulation lifetime exceeding 100 years at 1500 Vrms working voltage. The low 1.7 mA per channel supply current and 100 Mbps data rate make it suitable for isolating high-speed interfaces like SPI, UART, and GPIO signals.

ISO7720DR is a 2-channel 100Mbps digital isolator from TI in SOIC-8. The ISO7721DR provides opposite default output state. The ISO7730DR offers 3-channel isolation in SOIC-16. The ADuM1201ARZ from ADI provides 2-channel 25Mbps isolation in SOIC-8. The Si8621BB from Skyworks offers 2-channel 150Mbps in smaller QSOP-8. For automotive, ISO7720QDRQ1 provides AEC-Q100 qualification. The ISO7740DR extends to 4 channels in SOIC-16 for multi-signal isolation.
