The DRV5032AJDBZT from Texas Instruments is an ultra-low-power omnipolar digital Hall effect switch in a compact SOT-23-3 surface-mount package. The AJ variant features a ±9.5 mT maximum operate threshold with 20 Hz sampling rate and draws only 1.3 µA typical supply current from a 1.65 V to 5.5 V supply. The omnipolar response means the output activates when either a north or south magnetic pole exceeds the threshold, simplifying magnet orientation in mechanical designs. The open-drain output provides flexible interfacing with logic levels from 1.65 V to 5.5 V through an external pull-up resistor. The device uses an internal oscillator to periodically sample the magnetic field rather than continuously biasing the Hall element, achieving the ultra-low power consumption that makes it ideal for coin-cell and energy-harvesting applications. The wide supply range and low voltage operation support direct battery connection without regulation.

The DRV5032AJDBZT uses a planar Hall effect sensor element that generates a voltage proportional to the perpendicular magnetic field (B-field). The Hall element is periodically biased by an internal oscillator at 20 Hz sampling rate. During each sample, the Hall voltage is amplified and compared against threshold references for both north and south polarity fields. If the absolute value of the detected field exceeds the 9.5 mT operate threshold (BOP), the open-drain output is pulled low. When the field decreases below the 3.0 mT release threshold (BRP), the output returns to high impedance. The hysteresis between BOP and BRP prevents output chattering near the switching threshold. Between sampling intervals, the Hall element and most internal circuitry are powered down, reducing the average supply current to 1.3 µA. The omnipolar detection is achieved by comparing the Hall voltage against both positive and negative reference levels simultaneously.
