The CP2102N-A02-GQFN28 is a Silicon Labs USB-to-UART bridge controller in a 28-pin QFN package, revision A02 with enhanced features. The integrated USB transceiver and 48MHz oscillator eliminate all external analog components. The 960-byte one-time programmable (OTP) ROM stores custom USB Vendor ID, Product ID, serial number, and power descriptors for OEM branding. The A02 revision adds RS485 transceiver support with auto-direction control, 6 configurable GPIO pins (up from 4 on A01), and enhanced ESD protection on USB pins. The UART supports baud rates from 300bps to 3Mbps with +/-1% accuracy across the range. USB Battery Charger Detection (BCS 1.2) enables charging current negotiation when connected to USB charger ports. Remote wakeup capability allows the device to wake a suspended USB host. The 512-byte TX and RX FIFO buffers prevent data loss during USB latency spikes. Royalty-free VCP drivers are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. The CP2102N is pin-compatible with CP2101/2/9 in QFN-28. Packaged in QFN-28 rated for -40C to +85C.

The CP2102N-A02 integrates a USB 2.0 full-speed device controller, UART interface, and bridge logic. The USB controller handles enumeration and data transfer according to CDC ACM class specification. The host VCP driver creates a virtual COM port that applications access via standard serial API. The bridge logic transfers data between USB bulk endpoints and UART FIFOs, handling data format conversion and flow control. The integrated 48MHz RC oscillator is factory-calibrated to meet USB clock tolerance without an external crystal. The OTP ROM stores USB descriptors read during enumeration. The 6 GPIO pins are mapped through OTP or runtime registers to UART modem control lines (RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD, RI) or general-purpose I/O. The RS485 auto-direction control automatically asserts the RS485 driver enable during UART transmission and deasserts it after the last byte, eliminating a GPIO control line. The voltage regulator generates the internal 3.3V from VBUS or VREGIN, with the REGOUT pin providing a 3.3V output for external circuitry.
