The XOR function is fundamental in digital logic: it is the building block for parity generation, binary addition, and comparison circuits. A key property of the XOR gate is its use as a true/complement element: when one input is LOW, the output equals the other input (pass-through); when one input is HIGH, the output is the complement of the other input (inversion). This makes the XOR gate a controllable inverter/buffer — useful for signal polarity switching and modulator circuits.
