The BSP742T from Infineon is a Classic PROFET smart high-side power switch with 500 mΩ RON, 0.8A nominal load current, and 3A short-circuit current limit. With integrated charge pump, overtemperature, overvoltage, and reverse battery protection, it provides reliable automotive-grade load switching for lamps, solenoids, and resistive loads in an AEC-Q100 qualified SO-8 package.

The BSP742T integrates an N-channel vertical power MOSFET with all necessary control and protection circuitry. An internal charge pump generates a gate voltage above the supply rail to fully enhance the N-channel MOSFET, achieving 500 mΩ on-resistance. The IN pin (active-high) controls the switch state. When a fault occurs (overcurrent, overtemperature, or overvoltage), the device limits current and/or shuts down. Overtemperature protection activates above approximately 170°C junction temperature with auto-restart after cooling. The reverse battery protection prevents damage when the supply polarity is reversed. The 140 µs turn-on time includes the charge pump startup delay, while the 170 µs turn-off time includes the output slew rate limiting for EMC compliance.
