The Infineon BC847B E6327 is an NPN silicon general-purpose transistor optimized for AF (audio frequency) input stages and driver applications. With a VCEO of 45 V and continuous collector current of 100 mA, it provides reliable performance in low-power amplification and switching circuits. The device features a high current gain range of 200 to 450 (B-group selection), ensuring consistent amplification across production lots. Its low noise characteristics between 30 Hz and 15 kHz make it particularly suitable for audio preamplifier stages. AEC-Q101 qualification guarantees operation in demanding automotive environments from -65°C to +150°C. The complementary PNP types (BC857 through BC860) enable push-pull amplifier designs.

The BC847B operates as a conventional bipolar junction transistor (BJT). In the active region, a small base current controls a larger collector current through current amplification (hFE). The NPN structure consists of a thin P-type base sandwiched between N-type emitter and collector regions. When the base-emitter junction is forward-biased (VBE > 0.6 V), electrons are injected from the emitter into the base, where most are swept across the reverse-biased collector-base junction to form the collector current. The high hFE of 200-450 ensures efficient current amplification with minimal base drive. For switching applications, the transistor is driven into saturation by applying sufficient base current (IB > IC/hFE), reducing VCE to its saturation voltage of 0.6 V maximum.
