The ATL431LIAQDBZRQ1 is a Texas Instruments AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualified low-voltage adjustable precision shunt regulator in a 3-pin SOT-23 package. The 1.24V internal reference is lower than the traditional TL431 (2.495V), making the ATL431 ideal for 3.3V and other low-voltage automotive power supply feedback loops. The 0.5% A-grade reference accuracy provides tight regulation for automotive SMPS secondary-side control. The 80uA minimum cathode current enables low-bias designs in always-on battery management systems. Grade 0 qualification (-40C to +125C ambient, -40C to +150C junction) meets the most stringent automotive temperature requirements for under-hood and powertrain applications. The output voltage is adjustable from 1.24V to 18V using two external resistors. When combined with an optocoupler, the ATL431 forms a precise error amplifier for isolated flyback, forward, and LLC converter secondary-side regulation. The LI version provides an open-drain output for direct NMOS gate drive in non-isolated applications. The Q1 suffix indicates automotive-qualified per AEC-Q100. Packaged in SOT-23-3 rated for -40C to +125C.

The ATL431 operates as a shunt regulator identical to the TLVH431 but with automotive qualification. The internal error amplifier compares the REF pin voltage with the 1.24V bandgap reference. When REF exceeds 1.24V, the amplifier drives the internal NPN pass transistor, increasing cathode current to pull the cathode voltage down until feedback equilibrium is restored. The output voltage is set by two external resistors: Vout = Vref x (1 + R1/R2). In flyback SMPS applications, the ATL431 compares a fraction of the output voltage with Vref and drives the optocoupler LED to adjust the primary-side PWM duty cycle. The LI version provides an open-drain NMOS output instead of the traditional NPN emitter follower, enabling direct gate drive of an external NMOS pass transistor for non-isolated LDO or linear regulator applications without an optocoupler. The 80uA minimum cathode current is lower than standard TL431 (1mA), reducing bias power in low-power automotive systems.
