The TE Connectivity (Linx Technologies) ANT-916-CW-HWR-SMA is a flexible whip antenna designed for 902-930MHz sub-1GHz LPWAN and ISM band applications. The CW-HWR series uses a 1/2-wave radiator element that does not require a ground plane for resonance, simplifying installation on non-metallic surfaces. The omnidirectional radiation pattern with 1.2dBi peak gain provides reliable coverage in all azimuthal directions, ideal for LoRaWAN gateways, Sigfox endpoints, and industrial IoT nodes. The SMA plug connector mates directly with SMA jack connectors found on most LoRa modules and evaluation boards. The swivel joint at the connector base allows the antenna to be positioned at any angle from vertical to horizontal.

The ANT-916-CW-HWR-SMA operates as a half-wave dipole antenna where the whip element constitutes one half of the dipole and the ground plane (or counterpoise formed by the attached device and cable) constitutes the other half. At 915MHz, a full half-wavelength is approximately 164mm; the 142mm physical length accounts for the end-loading effect of the tip cap and the base matching network. The antenna is resonant within the 900-930MHz band with VSWR below 2.0:1, meaning less than 11% of forward power is reflected. The linear polarization orientation matches the vertical polarization typically used in LPWAN networks.
