The ADG408BRZ-REEL7 from Analog Devices is an 8-channel monolithic CMOS analog multiplexer in a TSSOP-16 tape-and-reel package. The device switches one of eight inputs (S1-S8) to a common output (D) as determined by 3-bit binary address lines A0-A2. An EN input enables or disables the device. The 50 Ohm typical on-resistance is optimized for +/-15V dual supply operation with analog signal range from -15V to +15V. The device uses a proprietary CMOS process for low charge injection (20pC) and low leakage current. Break-before-make switching prevents momentary channel shorting during transitions. The ADG408 is pin-compatible with industry-standard DG408 and MUX08 devices. All channels turn off when EN is low, reducing power consumption. The device is specified over the -40C to +85C industrial temperature range.

The ADG408BRZ-REEL7 uses a high-voltage CMOS process for +/-15V analog switching. (1) Switch Core: Each of the eight channels contains a CMOS transmission gate with complementary N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs in parallel. This provides low and flat on-resistance across the full +/-15V analog input range. (2) Address Decoding: A 3-to-8 line decoder translates the A0-A2 address inputs into one-of-eight channel select signals. The EN input gates the decoder, disabling all channels when low. (3) Break-Before-Make: Internal timing ensures the previously selected channel turns off before the new channel turns on, preventing momentary shorting between channels. (4) Charge Injection: The 20pC charge injection is caused by capacitive coupling from the gate drive signals to the analog channel. Symmetrical switch geometry and complementary drive reduce but cannot eliminate this effect.
