The AD7671ASTZ from Analog Devices is a 16-bit, 1 MSPS SAR ADC combining excellent DC accuracy with high throughput in LQFP-48. Features +/-4.096 V differential input, internal 4.096 V reference with 2.5 ppm/C drift, +/-1.0 LSB INL, and 91.5 dB SNR. Consumes only 80 mW at 1 MSPS. No pipeline delay from SAR architecture. Operates from 5 V analog and 2.5-5.25 V digital supply.

The AD7671 uses a charge-redistribution SAR architecture. (1) Sample/Hold: Input sampling switch connects differential input to capacitor array during acquisition. (2) SAR Conversion: 16-bit conversion proceeds MSB to LSB over 16 clock cycles. Internal DAC generates test voltage; comparator determines bit decision. (3) Internal Reference: 4.096 V bandgap reference with 2.5 ppm/C drift. (4) Digital Interface: Serial (SPI/QSPI/MICROWIRE) or parallel interface for flexible processor connection.
