The A1395SEHLT-T from Allegro MicroSystems is a programmable linear Hall-effect sensor with an analog output in a compact SOT-23-5 package. The device allows post-assembly programming of sensitivity (1 to 18 mV/G), quiescent output voltage (0.5V to 4.5V), and temperature coefficient, enabling precise calibration after the sensor is mounted in its final position. The programmable temperature coefficient compensates for the temperature drift of permanent magnets used in position sensing, maintaining system accuracy over the full -40C to +125C range. The ratiometric output tracks the supply voltage, simplifying ADC conversion in microcontroller-based systems. The 30 kHz bandwidth supports dynamic position sensing in motor control applications. The SOT-23-5 package is ideal for space-constrained automotive and industrial designs.

The A1395SEHLT-T uses a Hall-effect sensing element and a programmable signal conditioning chain. The Hall element is a thin semiconductor plate through which current flows. When a magnetic field perpendicular to the plate is applied, the Lorentz force deflects charge carriers, creating a Hall voltage proportional to the magnetic field strength. This small Hall voltage (typically microvolts) is amplified by a programmable gain amplifier, whose gain sets the sensitivity (1-18 mV/G). A DAC adds the programmable quiescent offset voltage. The output driver provides a low-impedance analog voltage ratiometric to VCC. The temperature coefficient is implemented by a digital temperature compensation engine that reads an internal temperature sensor and adjusts the output based on a programmable coefficient stored in EEPROM. Programming is done through the output pin using a serial protocol, with a lock bit to prevent accidental reprogramming after calibration. The EEPROM retains the calibration values for the device lifetime.
