The device supports three interface modes: standard SPI (single data line), SDI (dual data lines for 2x throughput), and SQI (quad data lines for 4x throughput). Unlike EEPROM or Flash, SRAM provides unlimited read/write endurance with no page-erase requirements. The device operates from 2.5V to 5.5V and features byte-level random access, making it ideal for applications requiring frequent data updates. The 8-byte page mode allows faster sequential access for data streaming applications.

The 23LC1024-I/SN operates as a serially-accessed SRAM with three interface modes: 1) SPI Mode: Standard 4-wire SPI interface with MOSI, MISO, SCK, and CS pins. Each read or write operation requires a command byte followed by 24-bit address, transferring one byte per clock cycle. 2) SDI Mode: Uses two data lines (SIO0 and SIO1) for input and output simultaneously, doubling throughput compared to SPI. 3) SQI Mode: Uses all four data lines (SIO0-SIO3) for both input and output, quadrupling throughput. Single-cycle read/write is supported in SQI mode. The internal SRAM array provides direct byte-level access without erase requirements, enabling true random access with unlimited endurance.
