The 0805ZC105KAT2A is a 1uF multilayer ceramic capacitor from KYOCERA AVX with 10V DC rating and Y5V dielectric in the industry-standard 0805 (2012 metric) chip package. The Y5V dielectric provides maximum capacitance density in a compact footprint, making it ideal for decoupling and bypass applications where high capacitance is required and capacitance variation with temperature is acceptable. The +/-10% tolerance and nickel barrier terminations ensure reliable performance in reflow and wave soldering processes.

The MLCC consists of alternating layers of ceramic dielectric material and metal electrodes, fired together to form a monolithic structure. The Y5V (Z5U class II) dielectric provides very high dielectric constant (K), enabling 1uF capacitance in the small 0805 footprint. However, Y5V dielectric exhibits significant capacitance change with temperature (+22%/-82% over -30 to +85C) and applied voltage (capacitance decreases as DC bias increases). The nickel barrier termination prevents silver migration and ensures solder joint reliability.
