The Texas Instruments TUSB1046A-DCIRNQR is a USB Type-C alternate mode linear redriver and crosspoint switch supporting USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) and DisplayPort 1.4 (8.1 Gbps) data rates. This device integrates a crosspoint switch for Type-C cable flip detection and DP/USB protocol switching, along with linear redriver functionality with up to 14 dB of equalization. Designed for USB Type-C docking stations, hubs, and host port applications, it compensates for channel loss on PCB traces and cables, ensuring robust signal integrity at multi-gigabit data rates.

The TUSB1046A-DCIRNQR operates as a signal conditioning device in the high-speed data path between the USB/DP source and the Type-C connector. In USB mode, it receives SuperSpeed USB signals from the host controller, applies equalization to compensate for PCB trace loss, and retransmits the signal to the Type-C cable. In DisplayPort alternate mode, the crosspoint switch routes the high-speed lanes from USB to DP configuration while the redriver applies appropriate signal conditioning. The crosspoint switch also handles Type-C cable orientation (flip) by routing the correct differential pairs. I2C and GPIO interfaces allow system-level configuration and mode control.
