The M25P16-VMN6P from ST is a 16Mbit serial Flash memory with SPI interface, 75MHz clock, and sector/sub-sector erase in SOIC-8 for code and data storage.

The M25P16-VMN6P is identical in functionality to the M25P16-VMN6PBA, being the same 16Mbit SPI NOR Flash device from STMicroelectronics. The suffix difference relates to packaging options (tube vs tape-and-reel). The device supports standard SPI commands for read (03h), fast read (0Bh), page program (02h), sector erase (D8h), and bulk erase (C7h). Status Register bits BP0-BP3 allow configurable write protection at sector boundaries. The W/HOLD pin dual-function: pulled LOW during active transfer pauses the serial shift register without deselecting; combined with SRWD bit in status register, enables hardware write protection mode. The device features electronic signature readout (RDID command returns manufacturer ID, memory type, and capacity) for automatic identification by the host firmware. Active read current is 10mA at 75MHz; standby current is 50uA.
