Working Principle:HEF4071BT Working Principle

The HEF4071BT implements four independent CMOS OR gate functions. (1) OR Logic: Each gate performs the Boolean OR function Y = A + B, where the output is HIGH when either or both inputs are HIGH. (2) CMOS Implementation: Each OR gate uses complementary N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs in a standard CMOS configuration. The P-channel transistors pull the output HIGH, and the N-channel transistors pull it LOW. (3) Buffered Output: Each gate output includes a buffer stage that isolates the logic decision from the output load, providing symmetrical output impedance and improving noise immunity. (4) Input Protection: Clamp diodes on each input limit the input voltage to one diode drop above VDD or below VSS, protecting the thin gate oxide from electrostatic discharge and over-voltage conditions. (5) Low Static Power: In steady state, no DC path exists between VDD and VSS, resulting in quiescent current below 1uA.
