The VND7NV04TR-E from ST is a single-channel OmniPROM high-side driver with 40V 3.5A rating, analog current sense, and auto-restart in PowerSSO-12 for automotive loads.

The VND7NV04TR-E is a single-channel OmniPROM high-side driver from ST in PowerSSO-12, rated at 40V and 3.5A continuous. It integrates a power N-channel MOSFET with charge-pump gate drive, logic interface, and comprehensive protection circuits. The internal charge pump generates a voltage above VCC to drive the N-channel MOSFET gate, enabling 100% duty cycle operation (unlike P-channel alternatives that have higher RDS(on)). The RDS(on) is 50mOhm typical at 25C. Protection features include: 1) Current limitation at 15A typical with auto-retry; 2) Thermal shutdown at 150C with hysteresis; 3) Over-voltage clamp (load dump protection) at 41V; 4) Reverse battery protection via internal reverse diode; 5) Under-voltage lockout. The open-drain status pin (not shown in simplified pinout) reports fault conditions to the MCU. The PowerSSO-12 package with exposed pad provides thermal resistance of 35C/W, critical for dissipating the 0.6W conduction loss at 3.5A. The -E suffix denotes automotive-grade qualification. Applications include automotive bulb drivers, relay replacement, heater control, and motor driver pre-drivers.
