The device features an opto-compatible emulated diode (e-diode) input stage that is pin-to-pin compatible with traditional optocoupler-based gate drivers, enabling drop-in upgrades with significantly improved performance and reliability. The e-diode input eliminates the LED aging degradation that affects traditional optocouplers, providing >50 year isolation barrier life. The output stage delivers 4.5A peak source and 5.3A peak sink current with a wide 14V to 33V output supply range, supporting bipolar gate drive supplies for IGBT and SiC FET turn-off enhancement. The 150kV/us minimum CMTI (common-mode transient immunity) ensures reliable operation in high dv/dt environments such as motor drive inverters. The tight propagation delay (105ns max) and part-to-part matching (25ns max) enable precise timing in multi-phase inverters. The stretched SO-6 package provides >8.5mm creepage and clearance with CTI>600V material group I, meeting reinforced isolation requirements. Safety certifications include 8000VPK per VDE V0884-11, 5.7kVRMS per UL1577, and CQC per GB4943.1. The device is available with 8V or 12V UVLO thresholds and supports junction temperatures up to 150C.

The UCC23513QDWYRQ1 operates as a single-channel isolated gate driver with an opto-compatible input. Key subsystems include: (1) Emulated Diode Input – the input stage mimics the forward voltage characteristic of a traditional LED (approximately 1.5-1.8V at 4mA threshold current) but uses a silicon-based structure instead of a GaAs LED; when the input current exceeds 4mA, the driver is activated; the 13V reverse voltage handling allows interlock configurations; (2) Isolation Barrier – a capacitive isolation barrier provides 5.7kVRMS reinforced isolation with 8000VPK transient rating; double insulation and >8.5mm creepage/clearance meet safety standards; the capacitive coupling transmits the input signal across the isolation barrier using high-frequency modulation; (3) Output Driver Stage – a push-pull output stage with rail-to-rail swing drives the gate of the external power switch; the 4.5A source current charges the gate capacitance quickly for fast turn-on; the 5.3A sink current discharges the gate quickly for fast turn-off; the wide 14-33V supply range supports bipolar gate drive (-5V/+15V for IGBTs) using a split supply; (4) UVLO – undervoltage lockout prevents the output from switching when VCC is below the threshold (8V or 12V), ensuring the power switch is not driven with insufficient gate voltage; (5) CMTI – the 150kV/us CMTI rating means the driver output does not glitch when the isolated side experiences high dv/dt transients, critical for high-side drivers in motor inverters where the switching node transitions rapidly.
