The TXB0104RUTR from TI is a 4-bit bidirectional voltage-level translator with automatic direction sensing in UQFN-12 (2.0×1.7mm). A port supports 1.2-3.6V, B port 1.65-5.5V (VCCA ≤ VCCB). 100Mbps data rate with push-pull topology. ±15kV ESD on B port. Edge rate accelerator for clean transitions. OE referenced to VCCA. RUT suffix denotes UQFN-12, R suffix denotes tape-and-reel. Ideal for SPI/UART/JTAG level translation in space-constrained portable devices.

The TXB0104 uses an auto-direction sensing architecture with edge-rate accelerators. Each channel has one-shot circuits that detect transitions on either the A or B port and briefly turn on the corresponding output driver to accelerate the edge. After the one-shot pulse, the output driver returns to a high-impedance state, and the line is held by the external pull-up/pull-down or the driven device. This push-pull architecture requires driven devices to actively drive the bus — it does NOT support open-drain connections like I2C. The VCC isolation feature ensures all outputs enter Hi-Z if either VCCA or VCCB is at GND, preventing back-powering. The OE pin (referenced to VCCA) must be tied to GND via a pull-down resistor to guarantee Hi-Z during power sequencing.
