The TPS565201DDCR from TI is a 5A synchronous step-down converter with 4.5-17V input in a tiny SOT-23-THIN 6-pin package. D-CAP2 control provides fast transient response without external compensation. Integrated 31mOhm/16mOhm MOSFETs deliver up to 95% efficiency. Eco-mode maintains high efficiency at light loads. Features include hiccup OCP, UVLO, UVP, and thermal shutdown.

Uses TI D-CAP2 (Direct Capacitor-Average Plus Plus) control mode, a proprietary adaptive on-time architecture with internal ripple injection. The on-time is adjusted based on input and output voltage to maintain nearly constant 500kHz switching frequency. D-CAP2 eliminates the need for external compensation components while providing excellent transient response. The Eco-mode automatically enters pulse-skipping at light loads to maintain efficiency.
