It provides 512KB Flash, 68KB SRAM, a 16-channel 12-bit ADC, 6 ePWM modules with high-resolution capability, 2 eQEP encoder interfaces, 6 eCAP modules, and comprehensive communication including dual CAN, SPI, SCI, I2C, and McBSP. The FPU accelerates math-intensive control algorithms by executing single-precision floating-point operations in hardware, reducing code size and development time for motor control and power conversion applications.

The TMS320F28335PGFA is based on the C28x 32-bit fixed-point DSP core extended with an IEEE-754 single-precision floating-point unit (FPU). The FPU executes floating-point add, subtract, and multiply in a single 6.67 ns cycle, enabling efficient implementation of control algorithms without fixed-point scaling. The Harvard architecture provides separate program and data buses with a unified memory map. The 6 ePWM modules generate up to 18 PWM outputs with features including dead-band, trip-zone, and high-resolution PWM (65 ps steps via micro-edge positioner). The 12-bit ADC uses a dual sample-and-hold architecture allowing simultaneous sampling of two channels. The 6-channel DMA controller transfers data between peripherals and memory without CPU intervention.
