The TLV320AIC3106IRGZR from Texas Instruments is a low-power stereo audio codec featuring a 102 dBA SNR stereo DAC and 92 dBA SNR stereo ADC. It provides 10 analog input pins configurable as single-ended or fully differential, and 7 analog output drivers including stereo headphone amplifiers capable of driving 16 Ohm loads in capacitor-less configuration. A programmable PLL generates all internal clocks from a single MCLK input. The device supports I2S, left-justified, right-justified, DSP, and TDM audio data formats at sample rates from 8 kHz to 96 kHz with 16/20/24/32-bit data width. Control is via I2C or SPI.

The TLV320AIC3106IRGZR integrates two signal processing paths. The record path includes programmable microphone bias, digitally controlled stereo microphone preamplifiers, automatic gain control (AGC), and programmable digital filters for noise removal. The ADC uses a multi-bit delta-sigma modulator with decimation filtering. The playback path includes a multi-bit delta-sigma DAC with digital interpolation filtering, programmable digital effects (3D, bass, treble, EQ, de-emphasis), and a matrix mixer that combines DAC output with selected analog inputs through programmable volume controls. The bandgap-referenced output common-mode voltage minimizes power supply noise coupling, particularly 217 Hz GSM noise. A soft-stepping algorithm for volume changes eliminates audible clicks and pops.
