The SK310A-LTP from MCC is a 100V, 3A Schottky rectifier diode in SMA (DO-214AC) package. 850mV max forward voltage at 3A with 80A surge current capability. 250pF junction capacitance enables high-frequency operation. LTP suffix denotes tape-and-reel packaging. Ideal for SMPS rectification, reverse polarity protection, and DC-DC converter freewheeling diodes.

A Schottky diode uses a metal-semiconductor (Schottky barrier) junction rather than a PN junction. This results in a lower forward voltage drop (typically 0.3-0.8V vs 0.7-1.1V for silicon PN diodes) because there is no minority carrier storage. The absence of minority carrier recombination also provides faster reverse recovery, effectively negligible compared to PN diodes. However, Schottky diodes have higher reverse leakage current than PN diodes at elevated temperatures. The 850mV forward voltage at 3A is higher than typical 40V Schottky diodes due to the 100V rating requiring a thicker epitaxial layer.
