The PIC24EP512GU810-I/PF from Microchip is a high-performance 16-bit microcontroller from the PIC24E family, delivering up to 70 MIPS performance at 3.3V. The device integrates 512KB Flash program memory (plus 24KB auxiliary flash), 52KB RAM, and 15 DMA channels for efficient data movement. Dual CAN 2.0B modules and a USB 2.0 Full-Speed OTG interface provide robust communication for automotive and industrial applications. The dual ADC architecture features one configurable 10-bit/12-bit ADC and one 10-bit ADC with a combined 8 sample-and-hold circuits, enabling simultaneous sampling of multiple channels. Four UART, four SPI, and two I2C interfaces support extensive peripheral connectivity. The Peripheral Pin Select (PPS) feature allows flexible remapping of digital peripheral functions to any of the 83 I/O pins. The device includes three analog comparators with programmable 32-tap voltage references, 16 input capture and 16 output compare/PWM channels, and a hardware CRC module.

The PIC24EP512GU810-I/PF is a 16-bit modified Harvard architecture microcontroller. (1) PIC24E Core: The CPU executes a 24-bit wide instruction set with 16-bit data path, achieving 70 MIPS at 140MHz (2 cycles per instruction for most). The core supports single-cycle multiply, hardware divide, and two 40-bit accumulators for DSP operations. (2) DMA Controller: The 15-channel DMA transfers data between peripherals (UART, SPI, CAN, ADC, etc.) and RAM without CPU intervention, using user-programmable priority arbitration. (3) Dual ADC: Two independent ADC modules allow simultaneous sampling. ADC1 can be configured as either 10-bit at 1.1Msps (with 4 S/H circuits) or 12-bit at 500ksps (1 S/H). ADC2 is 10-bit at 1.1Msps with 4 S/H circuits. (4) CAN Modules: Two Controller Area Network modules support CAN 2.0B at up to 1Mbaud with 32 message buffers each, implementing full CAN protocol including message filtering and priority. (5) USB OTG: The USB 2.0 Full-Speed module supports Device, Host, and On-The-Go modes with integrated transceiver and 1KB dual-port RAM for endpoint buffers.
