The LM393PWR from TI is a dual differential comparator in TSSOP-8. Wide 2-36V supply with only 0.4mA quiescent current. 5mV max input offset and open-collector output for wired-OR connections. Common-mode input range includes ground. Response time of 1.3us typical. PWR suffix denotes TSSOP-8 tape-and-reel packaging. Ideal for threshold detection, zero-crossing detectors, and battery monitoring.

Each comparator consists of a differential input stage and an open-collector output stage. When the voltage at the non-inverting input (+) exceeds the voltage at the inverting input (-), the output transistor is off (open-collector, externally pulled high). When the inverting input exceeds the non-inverting input, the output transistor turns on, sinking current to ground. The open-collector configuration allows multiple outputs to be wire-ORed together and enables the output to drive loads at a different voltage than the comparator supply. The response time of 1.3us is measured for a small TTL-level input step with 5mV overdrive.
